Sunset at Nye Beach and Dinner at The Sand Bar

Today we moved from Crater Lake RV Park in Prospect to Harbor Village RV Park in Newport, Oregon. Newport is on the Pacific coast which is one of our favorite places we've been over the last nine years. We first visited the Pacific coast and Newport in the fall of 2007. We've been looking forward to this return trip to the coast since first arriving in Iowa back in May and we finally made it!

After getting set up in our campsite, the next task was to find somewhere to eat. Being exhausted from travelling and setting up we certainly didn't want to stay home and cook! We went over to the historic Nye Beach area of Newport and found a restaurant that's mostly patronized by the locals rather than tourists. It's called the Sand Bar. There is a bar and grille on the first floor and a full-service restaurant on the second. We managed to get a window seat overlooking the beach where we could watch the sun set.

The view from our window at the Sand Bar

The mural on the wall coming up the stairs
to the restaurant level

The game room at the bottom of the stairs

We shared two items on the menu - this is Neptune's Bucket

And this is the sea scallops with mushrooms
sauteed in butter and garlic

The sun is going down

Almost gone!
