La Sal Del Ray

We decided to check out La Sal Del Ray which means "King of Salt". Friends from Winter Ranch took some pictures there and we had never heard of it before. So I checked it out on the internet Here is a link:

I gave Lee the directions to where I wanted to enter because of the shorter hike and the better scenery and birding. Well, ladies, he is not perfect! He ignored what I checked out and we went to the main entrance instead. That meant we walked four miles in and back to the lake instead of two and wasted our good birding time which is in the morning. It was a really cool day and that was good for me because the only skin I had showing was my face and neck which are now a wonderful bright red even though I put on sunscreen!

There is a very interesting history about this place which, if you are interested, you can look up on the internet. We are definitely going to visit the Brush Line area again in the morning because there is a lot of really good birding in this area.
