Pulga Flea Market and Ropas in Mission, Texas

I have been wanting to visit some of the ropas in the area and the Pulga Flea Market.  Today, we set out with Mary and Mickey Hazlett.  We stopped and picked up Dave and Karen Pisarak on the way to Pulga.  They both knew their way around so we just followed them around.  It is a really nice flea market with about anything you can think of on sale.  We bought a few things there.

Then we visited a row of ropas.  Some were just too much for me.  They are the ones with the clothes in huge stacks.  You have to be game to climb up and look through stuff to see if you can find something you want.  I don't even like sale tables!  However, the stuff at these ropas are really inexpensive and people find nice things there.  It is kind of amazing.  They sell the clothes by the pound.

See the woman on top of the pile - she's shopping!

The ropas that I like have the stuff sorted already and in bins.  They still sell by the pound but the price is a little higher since the stuff has been sorted.  We actually bought 4 polo shirts for Lee and a pair of skinny jeans and a nice pair of dress pants for me for $4.50.  I figured once I lose a couple of pants sizes, I'll have something I can look forward to wearing.

Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen, Texas

Entry to Quinta Mazatlan
After we left Bentsen Rio Grande State Park, we decided to visit Quinta Mazatlan and were surprised at all the changes they've made in the last year.  They are in the process of adding a new building behind the hacienda that looks like they will have a nice restaurant beside a newly developed pond.  They have also added sculptures of some of the different birds that you can see at Quinta around the property.  I put those in a separate post since I took lots of pictures today.

Quinta Mazatlan Sculptures

These are the new sculptures that we saw at Quinta Mazatlan.  Sometimes there were some rocks that told about a bird or animal but they hadn't placed the sculpture yet.  We'll have to go back next year and see what all has developed while we were up North.
