We drove farther into the town of Saugerties to find the Cantine Dam Falls. We again couldn't find anything much with directions. We crossed the bridge in Saugerties on Route 9W and we could see the top of the falls so we went in search of a view of the bottom of the falls. We drove down the nearest street and found the Tina Chorvas Memorial Waterfront Park. We hoped that we would be able to see the waterfall from the park.
This is the old mill building that has been refurbished and is now a nice apartment building.
The Marina
We couldn't see the dam falls from the park because of a large bend in the water so we crossed the river and went in search on the other side.
We found the falls behind the Diamond Mills Hotel and Restaurant. It is an absolutely enormous hotel complex and it looks like they have a wonderful view of the falls from the balcony of their restaurant.
Castine Dam Falls
We decided that it was time for lunch and thought we might as well look downtown for somewhere to eat. While we were walking toward downtown, we saw the little houses, actually lighthouses, in various spots around town.
These lighthouses are going to be auctioned off sometime in September.
This one was called "An Evening in Madrid"
Laura's Butterfly Garden
A Bit of Whimsey in Saugerties
Angelic Light
Growing in the Light
We decided to have lunch at Brianna's Full Belly Deli. We both had sandwiches and they were both very good.
Downtown Saugerties
This building is the Municipal Building. We walked by it to get back to our truck. Luckily, we found a parking lot that had room for us!
Now that our stomachs are full, we are back on track to discover the next lighthouse.
