The Church of the Messiah

We decided to attend a service at an Episcopal Church this Sunday.  I was reading something about how progressive the Episcopal Church was and so we decided to check them out.  There is an Episcopal Church in Rhinebeck and we decided to attend their 10 AM Service.

The congregation was very friendly and several people invited us to their coffee hour.  The service was very different from what we are used to.  It was almost like attending a Catholic Church when I was a kid except then the Mass was in Latin and this minister's sermon included many comments about his partner.  Obviously, this church is open and affirming and practices what they preach.  The service was very liturgical.  The minister gave a very interesting sermon and you can tell he has quite a sense of humor.  Many of the hymns were really old and some we had never heard before.  We really like the fact that they are open and affirming but we aren't sure we like the very traditional service.  We may join them again to get a better idea of what is happening.
