Hudson River Cruise

It was hot and muggy today but we didn't want to waste a day off so we decided today might be a good day to take a cruise on the Rip Van Winkle out of the Rondout section of Kingston, NY.  It was a perfect day for it.  We had a great breeze and it made the ride really enjoyable.

Passengers are starting to board

The Kingston-Port Ewen Suspension (Wurtz Street Bridge) - it has a 3 ton load limit so we don't go over it!

Everyone gets their picture taken as they board.  We decided it wasn't too bad for $5.

We are still filling up.

Lots of ducks

There must be some voluntary cross-breeding going on as this is the male Mallard!  All of the ducks have green bills.  They really look greener than this picture shows.

Here is something you don't get to see too often.  There is a snooper truck on the bridge and these guys are in the bucket doing bridge inspection.

Just leaving the dock

The Rondout Lighthouse

Lots of big mansions on the hillsides over the Hudson

The Esopus Meadows Lighthouse

This was the Holy Cross Monastery that was sold because of declining numbers becoming priests.

Another tour boat which might be coming from Hudson, New York.

Hikers waving to us as we passed.
