Texan Panhandle War Memorial

The Texas Panhandle War Memorial was dedicated in 2003. The Memorial honors veterans from the greater Texas Panhandle who served in these wars and confrontations: Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Somalia, Kosovo, Persian Gulf. It is a circular outdoor garden planted with seasonal red, white, and blue flowers and is punctuated by large granite monoliths describing each war and confrontation. It is located just north of the Randall County Courthouse Annex at 4111 S. Georgia at Interstate 27 in Amarillo.

 WORLD WAR I TRIBUTE

 WORLD WAR II TRIBUTE

Again the most impressive or moving tribute goes to the World War II exhibit as Texas lost so many more men in that war. At least for that war though, they knew what they were fighting for and that isn't always apparent these days!
