Laramie Territorial Prison

Today we decided to check out the Territorial Prison in Laramie. It was a lot more interesting than I thought and it was a self guided tour which I really liked. Lots of stuff to see and read about.

This was one of the buildings that was used at the prison. It may have been a barn but we aren't sure. However, the gift shop was inside of this huge building and it is where we got our tickets for the tour of the prison.

The Wyoming Territorial Prison was a US Penitentiary in 1872 and later Wyoming's first State Penitentiary. For 30 years it held violent and desperate outlaws.

It was REALLY cold out today so I hurried up and practically ran the walk to the front door. Now I'm standing waiting for Lee to catch up so he choose to take my picture instead of heading into a warm building!

One of many halls of many jail cells

Lee is sitting in one of the cells - you can see that it is meant to house two prisoners!

Billy The Kid

There are pictures and information about several of the more famous outlaws that were housed in this prison.

THIS IS THE INFIRMARY FOR THE PRISON

We are looking outside at the horse drawn vehicle that was used to transport prisoners.
