Snake River Gorge, South of Jackson

I (Mary) met a couple when I was acting as a docent at the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters' National Paint-Out and Show that The Grand Teton Association puts on each year. They told me how much they loved the RV Park they were in. They've stayed the summers there for several years and they are now looking at buying a condo in the area. So we decided to head over and take a look at their park. Although she gave me directions, they didn't work out well in translation. We wandered for quite awhile before we finally found the park. By that time we had already decided that the place was just too far out for us. We like being at least close to some shopping and a movie once in awhile. Their place is about 1 1/2 hours from Jackson. And, you really don't want to do much shopping in Jackson as it is almost all at tourist prices!

By the time we found the park, we decided that we needed lunch instead of a visit so we headed into Thayne and ate lunch at Hub's Smokin' Grill. I had pulled pork and Lee had a hamburger. We both tried their Drunken Beans which were really pretty good.

On the way back, we stopped by a turnout to get some pictures of the Snake River Gorge which is South of Jackson. You just can't beat the scenery around here!

From there we headed into Jackson to get some groceries at Smith's which has become our favorite grocery in the area. They have a really good produce and meat section and if you buy what they have on sale, you can get some buys. We bought four 1" thick good sized New York Strip Steaks for $16. We also stopped at the Camera Corral where Lee bought a stepper ring for his new Sony Camera.
