Port Clinton and Marblehead Lighthouse

We headed to Port Clinton today to get a look at the Marblehead Lighthouse and to eat some of the famous Lake Erie Perch. The first stop was Marblehead State Park which is a lovely spot for everyone to sit and relax or have a family picnic. Lee climbed the tower at the lighthouse and took several shots from there. I stayed on the beach and relaxed and did a bunch of boat and people watching!

Great Lakes Popcorn Co and the KoKoMo Bay Cafe

Later on we headed for downtown Port Clinton. We stopped first at the Great Lakes Popcorn Company and their tasting bar where we tasted many kinds of popcorn. After sampling everything, we finally decided we better buy something so we purchased a small bag of chocolate toffee popcorn. I guess my favorite remains kettle corn! They wouldn't make a fortune on us that is for sure!

Next we went next door to the KoKoMo Restaurant and Cafe. Since we both love walleye, we just couldn't decide whether to give it up for the Lake Erie Perch. Our waitress made up our minds for us as they had a combination walleye/perch plate and she personally preferred the perch. You know what, she was right. It was the best perch we have ever tasted - it wasn't fishy at all and, in fact, less fishy than the walleye which isn't a fishy fish. So, if you are ever in the Lake Erie region, do try it!
