The Beach Plum

A friend from Iowa told us that we absolutely had to try this restaurant in Portsmouth, NH.  It is a fast food restaurant like no other we've been too.  They serve mainly fresh seafood and the prices are not fast food prices!  However, the food is REALLY good!

You can see that it looks like a fast food place where you order at the counter, get your meals and sit at picnic tables.

It has the same kind of fast food beverages available except they also offer beer and wine!

Here is the difference.  Notice the menu items on the three boards!

The Beach Plum has won a series of awards for their food!

Waiting for our food!

We shared a fresh shrimp dinner and the shrimp was some of the best we've eaten!  The fries were so-so!

Dawn said that the Lobster Bisque was to die for.  We ordered a bowl of Lobster Bisque and a bowl of Clam Chowder.  After we tasted both, Lee had the Lobster Bisque and I had the Clam Chowder.  Both of them were excellent.

Then we made the mistake of misreading what we were ordering.  I just wanted one dip of ice cream instead we ended up with about a pint each.  See above.  Lee ordered Butter Pecan and I had Maple Nut.  They were both excellent, however, I couldn't eat all of mine - half of it went to waste.

That's what was left when I was done.  Have to read those signs more carefully!

The meal was $30 and the ice cream was $10.  Not your normal fast food prices for two.  However, the soups and shrimp were so good, we decided we would come back before we left to try another seafood dinner.
