Beach at Sea Bright , New Jersey

Since the kids have never been near an ocean, we decided we had to take them to an Atlantic Ocean beach. And since our RV is parked within a hundred miles of Asbury Park, NJ, we set that as our destination. We started out mid-morning and drove for two hours before stopping for lunch at a Smashburger in Neptune, NJ about five miles from Asbury Park. After lunch, we drove into Asbury Park but actually wound up in Sea Bright, about 10 miles north where parking was more accessible and the beach less crowded.

The kids had a great time playing in the surf and looking for what they could find in the sand and the water. They even found some kind of small, live sea creature that they examined closely before returning it to the water.

Addi was particularly adventuresome in the ocean! Tommy was a little more leery. He was very worried about Addi's safety. At one point he came running to us and said we had to get Addi to stay closer to the shore because the waves had her covered twice already and she didn't even care! We decided she was getting a bit too brave so we told her to stay back a little but that dampened her fun and she sat for quite awhile. I called her back and said she didn't have to stay where Tommy wanted her and showed her how far out she was allowed to go. Then she was back having fun in the waves. Tommy came back to us and Lee explained how to get along with the waves and he then went out and they both got too brave for our liking but we watched them like hawks!

Look what I found

What is that critter?

The weather was great and we all had a great time. We stopped at a Sonic Drive-In for supper on the way home so we didn't have to go into a dining room which we didn't want to do because the kids' bathing suits were still damp and sandy. At Sonic, we could eat in the car without looking totally deranged.
