Iowa Welcome Center and Penny's Diner

We stopped at the Harrison County Iowa Welcome Center to see if they had a video about the formation of the Loess Hills. They had one but it was basically a poem with lots of views of the hills. They did follow that up with a movie about building the roads in Iowa which Lee, of course, really enjoyed. It concentrated mainly on the Lincoln Highway.

One of the original posts that was on the Lincoln Highway. The Boy Scouts put these posts along the highway to mark the Lincoln Highway. They did it all across the country on the same day. We think it was September 21, 1927,

This is the condition of one of the streets in Ames prior to the Lincoln Highway. And, we think we have it bad!

After we left there we ate lunch at a cute little diner that was close. The food was so-so but the atmosphere was fun!
