South Padre Island Town and Beach

Our next priority was lunch. We drove over to Isla la Blanca Park and had a picnic on the Gulf Coast. It was pretty windy so we had to hold on to our plates and napkins. Of course, the seagulls found us almost immediately and Tommy did not like them a bit. There is one of the differences between Addi and Tommy. He would get scared and run to his Mom and Addi would just shoo them away.

After lunch we headed over to see the Statue of el Cristo de los Pescadores which is a memorial to all the fishermen and shrimpers who have lost their lives at sea.

We also took a quick tour of some of the tourist trap shops in South Padre.  This one is pretty interesting!

Then we headed over to take the Eco Tour but found that they did not have enough people signed up for it. They did have enough for the evening sunset cruise though and they told us they would make it into an eco tour. So we decided to do that. In the meantime we headed over to the Gulf Coast so we could walk the beach and let the kids play in the sand and the water. Neither of them have seen waves before and it was pretty exciting.

We are excited!

They both had a great time and Addi found a friend that she had to hold. Soon Tommy was holding the puppy too. So far we've had a terrific day!
