South Padre Island Birding Center

Today we drove over to South Padre Island with our daughter, Danica, and her two little ones, Tommy and Addisyn, to do some sightseeing. Our first stop today was the South Padre Island Birding Center. They erected this new building just a year or so ago. It houses lots of exhibits and information on birding in the area.

When you leave all the exhibits and head outside, there are boardwalks that take you out to the Laguna Madre. All kinds of water birds winter at the Birding Center so it is a good place to bird. Of course, with two little ones you may only catch a glimpse now and then. Grandpa kind of went on ahead of us or stayed behind us to get the pictures we have from today. Otherwise, we were a little too noisy to really see too much!

The kids had fun running on the boardwalks and looking down portholes where they could see what was in the water. However, after about an hour it was time to head on down the road!
