The Party's Over For The Time Being

As we left Temple Square on I-15, we were in rush hour traffic when a pickup truck pulling a two-axle trailer started pulling into the lane that we were in. He crashed into our right front tire and that left us both in the midst of all that traffic waiting for the police to show up. I've never been so happy to see anyone in my life!

This is a Utah DOT Incident Management Vehicle designed to clear wrecks from the lane as quickly as possible. All it does it drags you from the traffic lane to the shoulder.

The person from the Utah DOT called the police and they arrived shortly thereafter. They came and talked to us about what happened and then talked to the other party. Thank goodness, they gave him a citation which we hope helps with our future insurance costs.

This is a flat bed tow truck that loaded our vehicle up and got us off the freeway. We were really happy to be out of all that traffic speeding by.

Here'e a look at the damage to our car. The driver of the other vehicle had no noticable damage!

We sat in our car for
When the tow truck arrived, he made short work of getting us towed. We ended up riding with him and he dropped us off at a place to rent a car. We are now driving a Toyota Rav4. It isn't nearly as roomy or comfortable as our car.

In the meantime our car will be towed to a collision center after which we'll get an estimation of time frame before we have our SUV back. Fortunately the campground site we are on with our trailer was available for another two weeks but after that the campground is full for the season. So we're hoping there is no problem getting parts, etc. so that we can be on our way back home.
