Pecos National Historical Park

"Pecos is a cultural crossroads through which hunters and gathers, traders, conquerors and explorers, immigrants, soldiers, ranchers and tourists passed."  The monument continues as a "living legacy of the people who passed this way." (National Park Service website)






Visitor Center


We started walking "The Ancestral Sites Trail"  It takes you by the ancestral sites of the Pecos Pueblo and the Mission Church. 










Subterranean Kiva



Some of the kivas have diameters as large as 40 feet and are 10 feet deep, accessed by wooden ladders.
