The Springfield Capitol

We began our second day in Springfield with a guided tour of the State Capitol today. It was really interesting and the kiddos really seemed to enjoy it. Like most state capitols, it is patterened after the US Capitol in Washington, D.C. with a Senate side and a House side. Unlike the US Capitol, however, the Governor and his cabinet also have offices in the building.

Lots more information about the Illinois state capitol (the sixth capitol in the third capital city in Illinois state history) can be found here:  http://www.ilstatehouse.com/index.htm

After our tour, we headed to Freddy's Steakburger for lunch. It's our favorite hot dog place but we especially enjoy the skinny fries!

The kiddos hadn't eaten at a Freddy's before and seemed to enjoy it!

YUM!
