Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge

It was a beautiful day today so we decided to head over to the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge. We haven't been there in awhile and we thought today might be a good day to go.

We found these Green Jays at a bird feeder on the way into the park.

We passed over this Irrigation canal on our way to the trails in the park. Texas has a lot of irrigation canals but the Rio Grande Valley has the majority of the large canal networks. The canals provide water to irrigate crops in the Valley..

Don't know what is in this nest??

We took this picture from above!

The stairway to get up or down from the above ground walkway.

As we were going to go down, another couple with a couple of kids came up. We took their picture and they took ours.

We didn't see as many birds as we had hoped but we had a good day. However, once we were home, I discovered that I had been eaten alive by something. It took days for the itching to go away. I normally put Vanilla Lotion on before I go hiking around the parks but I forgot today. It won't happen again. I was scratching for days!
