South Padre Island Turtle Sanctuary

Today we headed over to South Padre Island for the Indoor Kite Festival, however, we came early so we could check out the Turtle Sanctuary and get something to eat. Our friends, Rich and Mary Ann Kliman and Bob and Maxine Johnson, came with us.

We are on the walkway to the Turtle Sanctuary

You can see the Birding Center from the Parking Lot.
We spend a lot of time there.

Now we are in the room with huge glass tanks for the resident wounded turtles that won't be able to be put back in their natural habitat. Many were tangled up in nets or just junk in the ocean and has been rescued and in some cases have different things attached to their bodies to allow them to function in their tanks.

He's waving at us!

Rich had this turtle eating out of his hand.
Well, he would have had he had any food.

Now we are in another outdoor area where turtles are kept.
