San Angelo State Park in Texas

Wild Flowers on the Way To The Park
The San Angelo State Park is located on the shores of O.C. Fisher Reservoir which was completed by the US Corps of Engineers in 1952 for flood control on the North Concho River.

The park is also home to the Official Texas State Longhorn Herd which we hope to see while we are here. We didn't see any sign of them or the bison that are here.  They all were hiding today.

We have a beautiful campsite with a view of the lake. Unfortunately, there isn't much of a lake to see. You can really see the ravages of the drought here. The lake has maybe a mud puddle of water in it. This is the note they have posted on the park's website:

"06/21/2011 - The lake is currently dry, and due to deep mud, the lake bottom is unsafe for walking. There is currently no swimming at the Park but Lake Nasworthy & Twin Buttes Reservoir offer swimming and fishing, and are about a 10 minute drive from the Park."

We have a few neighbors but they aren't very close!

You can see the pictures of the lake that we took today. It is just really sad!
