Around the town in Texarkana; Millwood State Park, Bill Clinton's Birthplace in Hope Arkansas

Texarkana is one of the most unique cities in Arkansas! It sits at the crossroads of four states, Texarkana has been known for a century for its iconic courthouse and post office building that straddles the state line between Texarkana, Arkansas and its sister city, Texarkana, Texas.

This is the Ace of Clubs House which is a historic house museum. The house is distinctively shaped like a club, from a deck of playing cards, with three octagon-shaped wings and a fourth rectangular wing adjoining at a central octagon-shaped stair hall. We didn't have time to take a tour but it certainly looks like an interesting place to visit.

This is a monument dedicated to the Mothers of the soldiers who fought in the Civil war. The monument's inscription reads: "O Great Confederate Mothers, we would print your names on monuments, that men may read them as the years go by and tribute pay to you, who bore and nurtured hero sons and gave them solace on that darkest hour, when they came home with broken swords and guns". The mother is in the middle section of the monument.

The inscription for the Confederate soldieron the top of the monument reads, "To our loyal Confederates".

Here is something you don't see every day. It is a place to plug in your battery operated vehicle.

This is a historic home built in 1905 by Patrick Ahern. Mr. Ahern was an Irish immigrant who owned a dry goods business.

"A large mural depicts the life and accomplishments of native son and Pulitzer Prize winning composer Scott Joplin, "The Father of Ragtime Music." While attending the Orr School in Texarkana, Joplin formulated many of his most successful ideas and compositions. He became famous for "The Entertainer," written in 1902, which was introduced to a whole new generation when used in the 1973 movie “The Sting.” His sophisticated piano compositions have only recently begun to be fully appreciated, and as a result, many revivals of his works have been staged and recorded." After we left the city of Texarkana, we visited Millwood State Park which is 20 miles north of Texarkana in Arkansas. The Park is a public recreation area known for its fishing and wildlife habitats located along the southern side of 29,500-acre Millwood Lake, nine miles east of Ashdown in Little River County, Arkansas  It was nice to get out and walk around in nature after being in town most of the day.

Bavarian Inn, Frankenmuth, Michigan

After walking all morning, it was nice to stop for lunch at the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn. When we walked in though, we were in a very long line of people waiting for lunch. However, it didn't seem to take too long before we were called. As people came in they were escorted to various waiting areas in the building and then you ate in the large dining area near your waiting room.

This was our dining room

Lee looking over the menu - of course, it is almost all Bavarian which is what we wanted.

I really loved the decor in the restaurant and the costumes of our waiter and the staff.

Our Waiter behind Lee

We both decided on the Bavarian chicken. It is said that the chicken put Frankenmuth on the map! It was lightly breaded and flavored with their own blend of seasoning. Then it was quickly fried for full flavor, We were first served their seasoned chicken noodle soup. Then we were served our meal. It was served with fresh Michigan mashed potatoes, gravy and baked dressing. We can highly recommend it. It was delicious.

Then, of course, even though we took food home with us, we decided to try the Apple Streudel which was also excellent. We didn't take any of it home!

Bronner's Christmas Wonderland

They took this picture of us as we left the store. You can see that we did buy a few things, but since we love Christmas we already have plenty at home. I did find some new ornament hangers that we are going to try. We also bought a couple of Christmas ornaments for the tree. They were both sealife ornaments since that is what we have put on the tree the last couple of years. One was Neptune riding on a seahorse.

I thought this Trivia about Bronner's was interesting!

You can't get all of Bronners in one picture!

I REALLY wanted to bring this guy home with me!

We have a few things in our cart!

After walking for miles in the store's various sections, we decided to sit down in their little cafe and have a treat.

There wasn't a lot of bakery left but we had apples strudels.

Every color of ornament has a wall like this!

Needless to say there were lots of checkout aisles!

There were so many miles of aisles and rooms, that I am not sure that we saw them all, but our feet thought so! lol
