This was a unique lunch stop for us. We were traveling toward our next camping location northwest of Chicago and stopped at the Belvedere Oasis Travel Plaza for lunch. We had a pizza at Sbarro Pizza. At this location, the services are located above Interstate 90. In the pictures, you can see traffic out the window running beneath our feet! It was a fun place to eat lunch.
After lunch, we headed to our scheduled campground in Union, IL but they had had heavy rainfall in the area (like 10" in 2 days!) and the campground was a mudhole! After trying unsuccessfully to get into the flooded site assigned to us and trying an alternate site which was no better, we decided to head back toward Belvedere and spent the night in the Walmart parking lot. At least that was paved. Camping in a Walmart parking lot - the kids got to enjoy the full RV experience!
