Mohican Pow Wow

Douglas Blue Feather Playing the Flute

After we finished lunch, we headed over to the Mohican Pow Wow. It had quit raining for the most part by the time we were finished eating.  We set up our chairs and enjoyed listening to Douglas Blue Feather play the flute.  He is really good and we ended up buying a CD of his later on in the day.  What we'd really like to do is buy a couple of his flutes and books and try to learn to play, however, we would probably drive each other crazy if we did!

The Grand Entry - Military First

The grand march started with honoring the military and they asked all military in the audience to join them.

We were certainly glad for our chairs with the overhead awnings today. It was really hot and muggy. Even with have my face shaded, I ended up with a burn on my arms and feet. There was sometimes a life-saving breeze. I can't believe how warm these dancers were in all their regalia.

We found that as with most Pow Wows that we've attended, there is always a lot of down time between performances. It seems that they are always waiting on something so the schedule is kind of a guideline, nothing set in concrete.

We left before the event was over because we were just too hot and uncomfortable.  It is too bad they didn't have a nicer day!
