We try to alternate what we do on the first Saturday in December. McAllen has its big Christmas Parade and South Padre has their Lighted Boat Parade. We love both of them. This year we did the parade. The parade starts at 6 PM but we got our seats at 4 PM because otherwise, you are behind tons of people and don't see a thing. As it was, we had to keep out feet on the fence in front of us in order to keep young kids from getting in front of us.
One little Mexican girl who was a cutie who was probably three years old stood right next to me. She kept talking to me in Spanish about the floats and then I answered her in English. She always looked at me funny but just kept chattering to me until her parents decided it was time for them to leave. Their children did not appreciate having to leave and let them know!
We sat with food right behind us
There is a fair going on behind us!
We had this food stand right behind us. Lee stood in line for quite awhile for our dinner. I managed to get his picture when he finally got to the window.
Here' my corn dog
What we didn't take a picture of was the Fried Oreo that we both had. It was soooo rich but good! Diets are coming in January!! lol
AND HERE COMES THE PARADE!
There were lots of school bands, as usual
This is the Dallas Cowboys Float
Amari Cooper, No. 19 - He is my grandson Tommy's favorite
Anzalduas International Bridge Float - it is in Mission, Texas
And Santa Closes the Parade
In years past when we've come to the end of the parade, we were in traffic forever getting home. However, Lee now has figured out where to park so that it isn't as difficult to get out of town and it is a lot better.
