Camping at Falcon Lake State Park

We arrived at our site at Falcon Lake last night at about 8:30 PM. It was dark when we arrived.  It took us a lot longer to finish packing up the camper than we thought it would.

There was an unmanned check-in station that was lit pretty well when we first got into the park.  However, it was not fun to find our way through this park at night. There are several areas with camping and the signing might be okay in the daylight but it wasn't easy to figure out where to go. It is just masses of trees. However, we finally found where we were supposed to be and we managed to get set up in the dark. There were some lights in the campground. We were also serenaded by the one camper in our vicinity who was enjoying loud Mariachi music on his outdoor speakers!

When we got up and around in the morning, our noisy neighbor was already gone. There were several big fifth wheels in the campground but they look to be all seasonal renters who park their units and boats here and come up when they want to fish. It has been soooo hot here lately - normally in the high 90's - so there wasn't much going on in the park.

Last night was our first night in the camper which has a murphy bed. The mattress was dreadful - hard as a rock. It also takes some effort to get in! This morning was beautiful, but our first priority today was to get a mattress topper and fatter pillows for the bed. We also thought of several things that would be helpful. Lee wanted a locking hitch pin and a spring clip for the brake away switch and I needed quite a few kitchen items that I didn't want to take from the kitchen in the house.

We didn't spend a lot of time hiking or anything because it has just been too bloody hot for that. We didn't have to leave our camper to see some wild life though.

There were a lot of Road Runners in this campground area.

The sites at this park are all very nice and the neighbors are not too close!

Our rig looks so tiny but it feels like home inside!

Doves were in abundance too!

Well, we spent three nights at Falcon State Park and we didn't have any problems with the trailer at all so that was terrific. And, the mattress topper and the new fatter pillows helped significantly with the bed. We both slept much better the second night.

We'll soon be on our way for a couple of months of the road!

Getting Ready to Take Our First Trip with our Imagine Travel Trailer

We did a lot of looking around for a vehicle to pull the travel trailer. We wanted to find something that would pull it without a problem and could also serve as our car. We finally found this 2015 Nissan Armada on August 2nd.

It already had a wiring harness in the car but it needed the connectors, the brake controller and the relays in order to use the wiring. So Lee ordered and installed the brake controller and hooked it up. He had a hitch installed by a muffler shop. Then he tracked down the relays and he installed those. He's a handy guy to have around.

So finally, we are ready to take the rig out for a trial run. We are going to head to Falcon Lake State Park and see if everything works well. If so, we'll be off in a week or so to do a bit of traveling and see some family. With Covid, it has been two years since we've seen any of our kids or grandkids!

We are hooking it up and are about to get on the road!

Getting Ready To Fill The New Trailer

Since we bought the trailer, I've been gathering the stuff that we want to put in it when we take off on a vacation in September. This is what the mess looks like today. There really is more stuff to go in but we are still using some things that will be put in the trailer.

Today Lee bought a Multi-Meter so he was checking it out and reading the instructions tonight.

Lee did not want to go over the weight limitations on the Travel Trailer so I weighed everything that went into the trailer. When we loaded up we still weren't even close to the weight that would be allowed  I'm not sure what you would have to put in it to get to that weight. Everything was mighty full when we finished getting everything in the trailer.

Porcupine Mountain

Today we went out to the end of the Peninsula to the Porcupine Wilderness State Park. It was a gorgeous day and we took tons of pictures of the beautiful autumn leaves.
