Hazel Bazmore Country Park in Corpus Christi, Texas

We took off today to see the hawk migration through Hazel Bazemore County Park in Corpus Christi. We have been to Hazel Bazemore several times and got some really good pictures of birds. This, however, was not that.

The hawks are coming through today and this week as part of their annual migration. They call this "A Celebration of Flight".

The people (birding experts) on this deck are counting the hawks as they travel through. Cameras are everywhere and Lee would like to have any one of the cameras we saw today. There are also lots of binoculars around.

Although the hawks come through the park, they are so high and far away that I don't see how these people who count them can do a count by bird even. Here are the pictures we took. No way we could decide what hawks were migrating.

The last time we were here we saw flocks of Scissor-Tailed Flycatchers. We saw a few today too but the pictures weren't nearly as good because we didn't have much sun!
