South Padre Island Birding Center

We drove to the North limit of South Padre Boulevard where it disappears into a sand dune. It was really windy and the sand was blowing all over the road and some people were stuck in the sand.

 We ate lunch at Senior Donkey.

Then we headed to the South Padre Birding Center for the rest of the day.

Onion Fest in Weslaco, Texas

It is REALLY HOT today but we decided to head to the Texas Onion Fest which was held at Mayor Pena City Park in Weslaco. 

 I made a few purchases in the tents full of crafts, 

foods, games, and you name it!

  As you can see they sell bunches of Onion Blossoms!

       Rancho Caballo de Pura Raza Azteca - Dancing Horses

These dancing horses were spectacular. We couldn't believe they could move like they do. We tried to find more on the internet about them but unless you speak Spanish, there isn't anything out there except some good videos.

The horses were the highlight of the Onion Fest except, of course, for the great tasting Onion Blossoms!

There was live entertainment in this tent throughout the day and we did stop in and stay for some of it before we went home.
